Mentoring

I am an experienced mentor and have mentored writers on a formal basis for Arts Training Central and also independently,  and informally in my role as Nottingham City Literature Development Officer.

Mentoring involves helping writers to decide on their future plans, and can be particularly useful for those seeking a better balance between their writing and their work lives. It can include advice on progress and discussion of the mentee’s writing. It normally involves 5 or 6 long one-to-one meetings over a period of at least 6 months. Because of the nature of the input, the fee can be quite high, but there are schemes and funding available to help with these. If you are interested in me becoming your mentor, do get in touch to discuss this further.

She was an immensely capable mentor, providing a fine balance of reassurance, critical insight and motivation to improve my work. (mentee)

I’m finding Cathy incredibly helpful supportive and good at focusing me and exposing me to many local resources. Cathy is very good at helping me to set tasks and achieve them. (Nottinghamshire poet/mentee)
